Trump Says Iran Strike Delayed After Appeals from Gulf Leaders

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Washington has postponed a planned military strike on Iran that was scheduled for Tuesday, following requests from regional leaders to give diplomacy more time.

According to reports, Trump stated on his social media platform Truth Social that he was contacted by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, all of whom urged him to halt the planned action.

He said the leaders emphasized that “serious negotiations are now taking place” and expressed optimism that a diplomatic solution could still be reached, according to reports.

Trump added that any potential agreement would require a strict prohibition on Iran obtaining nuclear weapons, describing it as a key condition for any settlement.

The decision to delay the strike comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing efforts by Gulf states to encourage negotiations between Washington and Tehran, according to reports.
